Imagine a new Tsawwassen library as part of the new Winskill Aquatic and Recreation Centre
Century Group’s proposal to build four high rises at the Tsawwassen Town Centre mall site is based on providing the city with a new library as a community amenity contribution. In other words, “We’ll give you a new library if you permit us to build high rises.” Without a significant community contribution, Century Group is prohibited from building anything higher than six storeys. While this doesn’t prevent them from offering an alternate contribution, it certainly challenges a key part of their current proposal. Because the new Winskill aquatic and recreation centre is in the early design stage, it would be simple to include third floor space for a beautiful new library. There’s sufficient substructure, including two stair cores and two elevators. Our illustrations show how a library can be added to the facility. And think of the advantages to this location, including huge financial savings for the Delta taxpayer.
Benefits of building the library at Winskill
Because the feedback period for the Winskill Renewal Project is open until March 24, 2025, there is time to submit this as feedback to the City of Delta. If you think building the library at Winskill is a good idea, please consider the following:

- Help spread the word by attending our community outreach at the Winskill Renewal Project open house on Saturday, March 15, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Winskill fieldhouse (adjacent to the lawn bowling green near Ocean Palace restaurant).
